˚BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ORGANIZATION
NGO ATAC is an association of freelance artists, professionals and students founded in 2011.We are using a language of art in alternative ways, with a strong emphasis in active, professional and independent production and presentation of art. At the moment, ATAC has 5 people as regular staff, with dozens of external collaborators and volunteers. ATAC is working with other similar organizations and experienced individuals in order to create and include a more socially – engaged art in many fields of culture, such as: publishing, media, theatre, music, film, fine art, design, comics, video… ATAC is an organization that makes the interaction between artistic projects and actions – a social process, but also works on development of creative potential in Montenegro and the region. Organization gathers artists and managers in culture with different interest in the field of contemporary art and theatre production. Main interest of ATAC is a stronger connection between public and creative sector in Montenegro including mutual reassessing, support and collaboration. Special accent of ATAC’s work is put on involving marginalized groups in our projects, thus supporting social inclusion of most socially excluded groups in the society through culture and art. Main production goals of ATAC are active production and presentation of artistic works in promoting art and meeting with cultural needs, research possibilities of theatre, improvement of communication in art and education, as well as development of other activities related to artistic practice. ATAK is an active member of the Anna Lindh Foundation.
Main goals of NGO “ATAK” are:
- Promotion, development, and creation of stronger creative industries in Montenegro; – Collaboration in purpose of enhancing individual creativity, skills and talent, which have the potential to create work and possible income through generating and exploiting intellectual property;
- Stimulation of private sector in investing in creative industries;
- Enhancement of cross-sector collaboration between education and culture, culture and tourism, culture and business…;
- Raising awareness about creative industries in Montenegro and development of artistic practice and forms, with special focus on social and cultural/art inclusion of marginalized groups and young people;
- Education in art fields and Management in culture.
Average turnover of ATAC in the last 3 years was between 15-20 000 EUR. Even though our projects were quite expensive, we have managed to gather a lot of in-kind contributions and volunteer support, by young people and state institutions, but lots of efforts of ATAC were put in searching for alternative sources of funding.
Organizational expertise and experience in the last 3 years
Some of the most important projects that ATAC has participated at, or produced were:
- Translating, printing and promotion of the drama “The Blind”, Belgian Nobel prize winner Maurice Maeterlinck, published by NGO ATAK and NGO OKF, 2011.
- Active presentation of a segment from the drama “The Blind” in Military airport Golubovci,Podgorica with participation of blind members of Association of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro, 2011.Participants of the project were young visually impaired person/actors.
- Participation in the program of exhibition “Salvador Dali ” in PI Museums and Galleries, Podgorica (literary, acting, video and informative program), 2011.
- Active literary evening of young Montenegrin poets on the theme “Mysticism of the dead poets” in the Apartment 201, Podgorica, 2012.
- Program “NGO gathering in total darkness” within the award from ERSTE Foundation, Podgorica.Profile of artists included in the project “The Blind” 2012. Participants of the project were young visually impaired person/actors.
- Theater play “Chapters 23 and 24” with Festival of International Alternative Theater – FIAT 2013.
- Theater project “19. December – Day after ”, former Factory “19. December” at Podgorica, 2013.
- Interactive dramas in secondary schools in Montenegro on the topic “(anti) corruption” in cooperation with the NGO Juventas, 2013.
- Theater project “Blind” with Embassy of The United States at Montenegro and Ministry of Defense of Montenegro, at Military Airport Golubovci, Podgorica, 2014.Participants of the project were young visually impaired person/actors.
- Conference “Cadre-contact” about creating a social environment with equal opportunities for all citizens of Montenegro in the realization of human rights, with special focus on marginalized groups, 2014, Podgorica
- The documentary “Living Eyes”, according to the project “Blind”, Podgorica 2014. Participants of the project were young visually impaired person/actors.
- A theatre play “The legend of Bibija” for RAE population, in cooperation with NGO Juventas and Help, in order to celebrate the International Roma Day, in April 2014.
- Project “The Moth” Stories of Everyday Ethics supported by Embassy of The United States at Montenegro for students. The project was realized in two segments: first was educational camp for students, with professors from USA and Montenegro; second part was colecting and publishing a book of personal stories of participants, and promotion at International Anticorruption Day, 2014.
- Project named “Vice Versa” – produced in cooperation with Center for Civic Education about student activism in Montenegro, 2015.
- Creativity for inclusion RE population with HELP – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe, 2015.
- Theater Play with prisoners and professional actors “Life on a pause” at the Institution for execution of criminal sanctions, Spuž, Montenegro, in cooperation with NGO Juventas and HRA, November, 2015.
- Theater play “Seagull Chronicle” at the city beach on Moraca river in premises of the Kayak club “Moraca” , Podgorica, June 2016.

We have our members in several national Commissions and working groups and we collaborate regularly with all recognized and talented artists from Montenegro in every art dimension. Members of ATAC are participants of many domestic and international exchange programs like International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of Embassy Of The United States Of America, program Fund for Active Citizenship – fAKT, De facto Strong, to support capacity building of civil society organizations to participate in community development and service delivery / service to citizens, etc.
